Hearts Grown Brutal: Sagas of Sarajevo
The Bosnian War was one of the most brutal conflicts in Europe since World War II. It began in 1992 when Bosnia and Herzegovina declared independence from Yugoslavia. The Serbian-led Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) responded by launching a campaign of ethnic cleansing against the Bosniak (Muslim) population. The war lasted for four years and claimed the lives of over 100,000 people.
