In this excerpt from Fly Fishing the Mid-Atlantic, author John Gierach shares his experiences fly fishing in the region.

I've been fly fishing the Mid-Atlantic for over 30 years, and I've never been disappointed. The region offers a wide variety of fishing opportunities, from small streams to large rivers to saltwater bays. And the fishing is always good, no matter what time of year it is.

One of my favorite places to fly fish in the Mid-Atlantic is the Shenandoah River in Virginia. The Shenandoah is a beautiful river, with clear water and plenty of fish. I've caught trout, bass, and even muskies in the Shenandoah.

Another great place to fly fish in the Mid-Atlantic is the Chesapeake Bay. The Bay is home to a wide variety of fish, including striped bass, bluefish, and flounder. I've had some of my best fishing experiences in the Chesapeake Bay.

If you're looking for a great place to fly fish, the Mid-Atlantic is a great option. The region offers a wide variety of fishing opportunities, and the fishing is always good.

Here are some tips for fly fishing the Mid-Atlantic:

  • Use the right gear. The type of gear you use will depend on the type of fish you're targeting and the water you're fishing.
  • Be prepared for anything. The weather in the Mid-Atlantic can be unpredictable, so it's important to be prepared for anything.
  • Have fun! Fly fishing is a great way to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
